My tribute to my beloved dad,
On Wednesday 22nd November at 8.35pm in a small side room in Queen’s hospital, the man who I have called dad for over sixty-three and half years, the wonderful Harry Purnell, gasped his last breath. He was very peaceful and although it has been bittersweet for the last few years with his dementia and particularly since the passing of mum, I will miss him beyond words. He was the kindest, loving, wisest, hands-on father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to so many people, and I thank God for him. Because of his gentle way of loving me all my life, it was easier for me to understand and appreciate Almighty God as Father when God’s call came upon me. Thank you, dad, for you, my beloved dad who I will love always and forever.
You are now at peace, out of all your confusion, you have clarity of mind and are with the Saviour you served, recognising Him with full wonder and all praise. And your Gladys is there too. I love you dad, thank you for being my precious and honourable dad. I will miss you, but I know that in that small side room at Queen’s hospital, it wasn’t goodbye, just
Au revoir!
